sorry, i'm trying to put whole subject in title so people know when to/when not to read further...

anyways, to repeat my subject, if i'm submitting amcas early june, when will 2aries come, so that i can give my LOR writers a date?

thanks!

Last year, I applied as early as possible, and started receiving secondaries in August.

I would shoot for a mid July date for the LOR's to be completed. I think that's when I first got secondaries.

Since this will be in the middle of summer break do you guys ask your professors to write letters now? Otherwise I will have to wait until I go back to school.

i'm on quarters, so i'm still in session.
for those of you who are out, i'd e-mail the prof. they might be still on campus doing research or be willing to have you snail mail stuff.
from what i gather, the faster you get it in, the better. let all of the waiting dookie be on amcas.

and thanks to you guys for posting

you should get your letters as soon as possible. i asked 5 people for letters one month ago and guess how many letters i have in my account right now....yes..ZERO. the writers will take forever to finish your letters. don't give them a july deadline. tell them you need the letters by mid june cos' the chances are, they won't be done by mid june and you will need to bother them for another two weeks before you get your letters.

I applied in mid-June of last year's cycle. Even with AMCAS' debacle, I started completing secondaries in July. Many of them were found on the internet from schools that send secondaries to all applicants. I only waited for two from schools which screen, but those were received in late August.

As for your letters of rec, my school has a pre-med committee and we were required to submit all of our paperwork, including LORs, by July 15 so that our letter could go out by August. (I think most of my letters were in by March, my committee review was in April, and my letter was done by June. All letters were mailed once I sent them my AMCAS transmittal.) I don't know if your school has a committee or letter collecting service, but you may want to look in that route.
