I'll be taking the august mcats and applying right after the scores are sent out.

Has anyone done this and gotten interviews? If so, then when were the interviews given and did you get accepted? I hope it won't be too late.

Make sure you have AACOMAS set up and ready to go as soon as possible. AACOMAS kept losing my transcripts, and once the received them took 4 weeks to process my application. I only applied to OSU. They received my secondary in October and AACOMAS just after Christmas. I got the interview invite just after New Years. I believed I interviewed on Jan. 14th.

yes it is possible, i did that this year. I had 5 interview offers but attended 3 and 2 acceptances. So it is possible but make sure you have around 27 or higher MCAT because later on in the cycle it gets really competitive. My interviews were around february and March. Oh and also be prudent in your choices of schools. Look at class size, avg. scores, % in-states/out of state, avg. acceptance rate etc. Goodluck and if you need more advise feel free to ask.

You should fill out and submit your aacomas this summer or as early as you can. That way you can just note that you are taking the August Mcat. Also, alot of schools will send you secondaries just based on your gpa, so you can have that sent in along with your letters of rec before October when your score comes out. If you have your LOR's and secondaries completed and sent early, your file will be completed and ready for review right when the August scores come out. You could potentially have interviews as early as November/December which is still considered early in the process..good luck!

August MCATer:

Applied to 5 schools. 2 interviews in November turned into 2 acceptances in December. January interview turned into an acceptance early february. I Cancelled 2 interviews scheduled for January.

You really have to be organized and start early on the transcripts, LORs, PS, AACOMAS, and 2ndries if you hope for an easy application cycle. Getting the application cycle over by Feb/March makes things less stressful.

Note that it takes about 4-8 weeks to process applications by AACOMAS so if you submit Mid-October when August scores are released you will not be complete at schools until late Dec/early Jan.

Why are you waiting? It will take a couple of months for the application to process after you send it in. You should send it in early, and the MCAT can be added to the application after the schools have already recieved your application.

You are putting yourself at a tremendous disadvantage for no reason.

Do you have a previous MCAT score?

If you don't, and your stats are okay, and your MCAT is above the average for the schools you're applying for, then you could be okay. Make sure you have all the LORs ready to go the instant the scores come out, and finish your AACOMAS in June. At least they can get the ball rolling for you.

Call the schools and tell them that although your application is in, that you're still waiting for MCAT scores. Keep in good touch with them when your scores come out(I was able to email them the official score report; it's faster) just to make sure you don't end up on the bottom of the pile they never sift through.
