Hey guys,
I'd really appreciate if you take the time and give me your input.
I took the DAT october 1st and sent in my secondaries right after, so you could consider me a late applicant. I have a 3.54 science/overall GPA and a BA in psychology. My DAT scores: 20 on all sciences / PAT, 17 RC,
15 QR!!😕
Im a dental assistant.
I got an interveiw invite from NOVA a couple of weeks ago (to my surprise!)for February (which I guess is really late and class migt be full by then I assume)...and I got my first rejection letter today from CASE western 🙁

Im dying to get atleast another interview to raise my chances of acceptance. I know NOVA is considered a good school and isnt easy to get into.... should having gotten an interview from NOVA make it more likely for me getting any other interviees? or did I just get lucky on this one?

I have mixed emotions and am restless constantly checking email and snail mail for any news....what do you think of my situation considering my stats?
Thanks so much for your time

Which other schools did you apply to? The admissions process is unpredictable and the criteria differ from school to school. It's difficult to say which schools might invite you to an interview.

So I have applied to 24 schools, all of califormia and many others like midwestern, penn, asdoh, nyu, detroit, temple, buffalo, mercy, virginia common wealth.. all private schools and any that accept community college.

Good job on your TS section. I think what's hurting you is a combination of AA 18, BA in Psychology at a community college (I think that's what you said??), 17 RC, and a 3.5. Everything that I have listed is average or below average. 3.5 is generally pretty solid, but having taken classes at C.C. and being a psychology major, schools may want it to be higher. At my NYU interview, Dr. Mejha said a 3.4 Biology major was more competitive than a 3.7 Psychology major. So that's my source. 18AA is not bad, but things are getting so competitive you need something to overshadow the 18. Some argue that RC is indicative of ones ability to quickly process information and a 17 is fairly low. If you do not get in, take the DAT again. I don't think it's your GPA that is holding you back, but I doubt it makes you stand out either. You need something that makes you stand out, and a stronger DAT score will do that

I'm in a similar situation as you are tooth. I took my DAT's on Oct 7 and had my application sent in otherwise prior to that, but I think you should be ok and should be getting some future interviews. 20+ in sciences are excellent, as for QR nobody really cares, but the RC might be the thing that's holding you back. I also got denied from UF, Case, and NJ... but got interviews from Nova, NYU, and UNLV. It's random who gets interviews, but if you don't get in study up and kill the DAT next time around.

Really? Wow, I would account for maybe a ~.1-2 difference. I wonder if NYU puts 3.0 as competitive engineering or math majors.

dont worry about Case, getting rejection from them is most likely due to applying LATE. last time i read somewhere in SDN, people said Case already have interview dates scheduled all the way up to next April so....

THINK POSITIVE.👍
