If I know a school is my top pick, should I tell them at the interview?

Should I tell the people I interview with that that school is my top pick and I will definitely enroll if accepted and withdraw from all of my other schools? Is there a certain way to approach this?

Maybe if they ask that question "Is there anything about yourself you'd like to add? Or is there anything else you'd like to tell us about your application?" I would broach the topic then. Don't come off TOO strong...you know what I mean, like desparate, but youre already in med school (congrats btw) so you can tell em you will withdraw your acceptances from other schools. anyway you could also follow up with a letter of intent where you could make your case as well. Just make sure you give reasons WHY the school is important.

good luck!!

I mentioned it at my top school. Hopefully today or tomorrow I'll be able to tell you the outcome. 🙂

I told them that they were my first choice and then explained why.

I did the same thing. When they asked if there was anything else that I'd like them to pass on to the adcom, I said that the school was my top choice and that if I am offered an acceptance I WILL attend, 100%. I also offered an explanation why. Both of my interviewers were pretty receptive to this.

I definitely plan to tell my top school.

What can it hurt? As long as you're not begging on your knees when you say it 🙂

You must not tell the school. It this a top secret.

I told my top school it was my #1 choice at my interview. I think it impressed them pretty favorably, since I got in...

exmike,

i had an interview last week in dc and i wanted to make sure i told them how interested i was in their program, since the school is my top choice. after both student and faculty interviews, the interviewers asked me if there was anything else i'd like to add. that's when i jumped in, and told them how i ranked this institution as my number one choice, and if given an acceptance, i would be extremely honored and gladly accept the offer. remember though, you have to tell them WHY. i listed a bunch of factors to give legitimacy to what i was saying. i even went further and told them that if accepted, i would without any hesitation withdraw my applications to other schools i applied to. after hearing me speak about this, both interviewers said how glad they were in hearing this. hope this helps. oh yeah, i still haven't heard back from the school but i'm crossing my fingers. best of luck to you and kindest regards.

LOL dodo.

Thanks guys. Let me know how it goes for you guys that told your interviewers that. Did anyone else send a LOI right after?
