if the money didnt matter.

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Internal medicine and yes, I would have done medicine no matter the money.

if the salary was same for all speialities, would u still do the one you are doing?

For many of the career changers on SDN, money didn't matter -- we were earning nice salaries before and will never get back to where we would be if he hadn't taken a decade off of our prior career. So, yes.

lots of boring, personal reasons. I made the right choice, though. And I was only on the PRS train for 1 year.

I sure didn't do pediatrics for the money. I want to do a peds critical care fellowship and considering 95% of PICUs are at academic centers that wont be for the money either.

I knew Radiation Oncology was the specialty for me when I could honestly say, "If all specialties were paid the same salary, I would still go into RadOnc." Fortunately for me, it also happens to be well-compensated. 😉

I realize that it sounds cliche/lame/trite/boring, but if you can truly say that you would go into your field of choice without monetary considerations, go with it. For example, before I learned about RadOnc, I almost sold my soul to the Radiology devil (nothing wrong with Rads, but for me that choice would have been made for all the wrong reasons).

I would pick FM Because u don't have to work on weekends

But to be honest I love my field I can't see my self doing anything else in the world maybe ill take a try at FM when I am to old for my specialty

Family med. Love what I do. Obviously, I would be doing it if I got paid like a rad onc.

if money were not a concern, I would be doing academic GIM and not learning to be a cath ***** 🙁
But I have about 150,000 in debt... not sure if publishing an elegant study in JGIM/NEJM would help me with that..
