I read & re-read my AMCAS a gazillion times, had 3 others read everything over, and submitted it last Thursday. I was cruising over it again today and found a fairly major mistake - I listed my 6-month job in the cardiothoracic surgery office as being from 4/2002 to 11/2003 instead of 4/2003 to 11/2003 - WHAT CAN I DO? AMCAS is closed for the day - do I call them tomorrow?

Has anyone found a mistake like this and been able to edit it? Can I "take back" my application & re-submit (which I'd hate to do!)? Do I just contact them?

I am so MAD to find out that I messed this up - I mean, it was one little box that I clicked the wrong year on - but damn.... ::kicking self repeatedly::

I am pretty sure the only thing you can "correct" after submitting is the contact information section......

But I would not worry too much about your mistake, I did the same thing last year and corrected it on my secondaries....and not one school asked me about it......so dont worry.

Seriously, dont stress it. More premeds need to learn to just have a beer and laugh at their mistakes. No you wont be put on the spot for making this mistake, relax.

How did you correct it on your secondaries? Did they give you a section for general comments or primary application corrections?

Thanks so much! Glad to know I'm not the only one! My jaw literally dropped when I saw that - on one hand, I feel like - it's not that major, on the other hand, it's not true so I fear that it could become a major issue...

Well not all secondaries will give you a chance to correct it, but you will soon find out that many will. Some/Most secondaries will have you fill out the exact same information that you filled out on the AMCAS.

I found out about my "mistake" the day before my first interview when i was going over my AMCAS and secondary applications........ I was a little worried about it and even told one of my interviewers about the mistake....she just smiled and said "ok". After that I made sure to fill out the dates correctly...because at the time I was still filling out secondaries. The schools that didnt have a place to correct my mistake, I told whomever I felt was appropriate on the interview day...(interviewers, admissions office....). I wouldnt worry too much about it....Med Schools know that students make (small) mistakes on the AMCAS and from my experience do not make a big deal about it.

Did you contact AMCAS at all about it? Given how early it is in the game, I'd consider pulling my application & resubmitting it. At the same time, I'd be afraid to screw something up majorly by doing this...? Should I contact a med school admissions office to ask what to do? Or just call AMCAS? or Neither?
