Stuck between Lecom-Erie (PBL) and Nycom. Deposits paid for both. Would love any insight. Like Nycom better, but cost is holding me back. Any justification to going to a more expensive school?

Where do you see yourself excelling most? I really don't think I would personally do as well with PBL.

I realize I will be in debt for a while after medical school and would personally put my considerations of fit and perceived chances for success before the cost. The quality of the education and my happiness during this time important time would be my first concerns.

Of course I've never experienced the financial burden of med school.

Don't pick the school based on other's opinions though. This is about you!

Consult the "pros and cons of your DO school" thread in the Osteopathic medical student forum. There is a lot of specific details about each school.

IMO, if you think you can be successful at the cheaper school, go there. But if you know that its gonna drive you crazy at LECOM, just go ahead and stay at NYCOM. I know LECOM is well-known for draconian rules and administration, but they are also known for getting results. And we are in a results oriented business.

A pro/con list might not be enough to make the decision. Be honest with yourself and ask what kind of things are important too you? What about the school is gonna bother you in 3 years when your stuck there and can't do anything about it?

Ultimately it is what environment will help you be more successful. And I agree that should be the #1 consideration. But after that other things come into play. The good news is I think you will be fine at either school, so there is less potential for regret IMO. Oh and if you have family you can stay with during NYCOM, than I think that will help even out the cost.
