...and you are taking a standardized exam in which I and many others have spent approximately $100,000 and two years to prepare for,

FOR GOD'S SAKE TAKE SOME G**DAMN FREAKING COUGH MEDICINE OR A COUGH DROP OR AN ALBUTEROL FREAKING INHALER!!!!

or else TAKE THE DAMN COMLEX IN OCTOBER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

+pissed+ +pissed+ +pissed+ +pissed+ +pissed+

every FIVE MINUTES a freaking SMOKER'S WHOOPING COUGH HACK!!!!!!

Ok, i feel about 1.5% better now. Going to work out.

That SUCKS! I was thinking about that the other day..."what if I have a really bad cougher in my testing room?" That would be so distracting. I'm just going to have to pray that everyone taking the test with me is healthy that day!

Anyway, DrMaryC if that happened to me I'd be really mad too 😡

I think I wore ear plugs during my COMLEX.

I'm with you sister... I'll be taking Step 3 next week.

Q, DO

thanks guys...

dudes I WORE earplugs...to no avail....EVERYONE in the room (all 120 or so) would just GLARE at her every time she'd start up. The proctors just kind of sheepishly shrugged their shoulders. Nothing they could do.

I would say it would be the equivalent of someone with Tourette's in your test room all day. Barking, coughing.

She's from another school, too.

I'm putting cough drops on her desk tomorrow. 😎

You seriously need to confront her and the proctor!!! I would lose my mind if this happened. It happened during a neuro exam first year and I screamed down to the proctor to do something. They took the poor girl out and let her take her exam by herself. Here is a trick in case you need it!!

This time of year many coughs are from drainage. Bring a bottle of Mylanta and mix it with some Chloraseptic, and have them keep a little cup of that by their desk and swish it in the back of her throat. It will numb up the cough reflex if it is drainage causing it. If it is a true chest cough, have some Robi DM to offer up early on!! But I feel your pain. I would probably have to throw a pencil at her or something!!!

I'll say a prayer that your day is better tomorrow and that mine doesn't end up being like yours!!

Matt

thanks 😍

sorry for being such a queen bee about this...i didn't mean to be such a rager when i opened the thread. Well, yes i did. 😉

i'll be planning my strategy over some sushi tonight. mmmmm....

Good luck to everyone! Including those who cough--good luck so that someone doesen't adjust your OA permanently!---oops there I go again 🙄

ciao.

I heard about the infamous cougher in Classroom B. Fortunately for us over in Ricci, we didn't have such luck (at least I was too zoned out to hear it if we did).

I feel for you Dr. Mary!!!! I think everyone should bring Super Soakers in tomorrow and everytime you hear a cough, she gets a blast. Kind of like squirting a cat with a squirt bottle. I just think that would be hilarious!!!!

and to top it all off, rude inconsiderate COPDer was seen sucking down a couple smokes this morn b/f test time.

And i heard COPDer is a third year taking test for 3rd time 😱 😱 oops.....caio bella.....

I just found out for Step 2-CS that a person who appears to be at risk for transmitting airborne disease and looks ill can be removed from the testing site for the safety of the standardized patients and other examinees. Maybe the same type of things exists for written tests? Also, someone can be removed for causing a disturbance, which might include excessive coughing for whatever reason. You could have a valid complaint to make to the testing board if you want to go down that route.
