If you were given $100,000 today.....

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
For $100,000???? That is nothing. I cant imagine a sane person dropping dental school plans for $100,000.

100 grand... don't most dentists make more than than in a year?

umm even if you give me 100,000 a year for next 5 years i wouldn't do it..

Reason?

Because $100k isn't enough money to give up a career with much better benefits. If it were $10 mil, I think many people would consider postponing dental school for a couple years.

What are you going to do with 100,000? Thats such a small amount.

Pay for my first 2 years and rent a really nice apartment!! 😀

add a couple zero's and i'd consider it. 100k is nothing

i'm in debt more than that already.....and i don't think my BS in bio is going to get me very far

I would invest it all and still go to dental school. You still giving away the money?

It would take a minimum of $5 million for me to consider backing out of dental school. The interest from conservatively investing this (6-7%) would give me an income similar to that made if I were a GP.

Are we talking pesos? If so, I would live like a frickin king down in Mexico with 100k. You gotta be downright ******ed to give up on dental school for 100 G's. Even for a million. People without the slightest forethought on their financial future should not be given large sums of money. If you received 100 G's, invest it. Don't be stupid.

Totally off subject but did you know that Vin diesel is a D&D freak. What a loser.

I'd try bribing my way through dental school.

Not having to work is worth something. You're saying that there's no cost to your work time.

Dental school culture lags that of present day society for several reasons. However stay hopeful. Somtime in the future, geriatric female profs will be hitting on boy toy dental students and movies like "Brokeback Dental Chair" will fill the giant screen.

Hell, YES! 👍 The worst thing anyone can do is stay at home being idle! Idleness rots your brains. I never want to completely retire. I love working and keeping my brain active! I thrive on work. Working gets my adrenaline and blood flowing and gives me a "high". 😀 Then again, I come from a family of "work-a-holics" . 🙄

You're right. I think not working is worth 'negative dollars'. I'd have so much free time I'd need more income to enjoy myself. Example: working fulltime I can only vacation 3-4 weeks out of the year. However, having no job I can vacation 11 months out of the year (gotta come home for holidays). Better make that $7 million.

I'd probably become a physicist if they gave me a million bucks

Damn I wish it had hot profs to seduce me and then pass me all the way through..oh well.

My dental school is already broke, so maybe they will take the bribe...I'm kidding;P
