I highly recommend the SAEM "virtual advisor program". Mine is a PD, who has seemingly been very open with advice. It has been great to "talk" with someone who can provide some real help.
I've been assigned a virtual advisor, and I emailed her when I got the info, but I haven't heard from her since (several weeks ago). Now that I'm thinking about it - I'll try to recontact her.
It took a while for me to get a virtual advisor because they apparently have a shortage, but it's a neat program!
If anyone needs a virtual advisor for what not to do feel free to PM me!
Free sample of the advice I have to offer:
1) If your real-life advisor is also the PD of a prestigious EM Residency outside of California, don't make it painfully clear that your No. 1 priority is to go ANYWHERE in California!
Yeah, if anyone needs a virtual advisor on how to blue-ball yourself at 6 AM after a night of binge-drinking, I'm your man! (or woman, if you check out my avatar).
