Hi, I've been lurking for a while but decided to post my goals and stats and see if anyone has any advice for me.
GRE: 660Q/720V/4AW
GPA: 3.6
My primary interest is in Int'l Health and I'd like to go to the strongest possible program in this field. My undergrad was in sociology and I took zero math or science. I have a few years of work exp but not all of it relates to health. I'd say I have 1.5 years health related experience, part of which was with an NGO in Asia.
I like the practice part of public health (program design/implementation) but also think I would enjoy research/academia so might be going for a PhD eventually, though I think I'd be headed into behavioral science over epi.
Which schools are really best for an MPH in IH? I've looked at the rankings but that doesn't tell me much about particular strengths. I've sifted through some faculty bios also and I think I'm looking at Hopkins, UNC-CH, UW, Columbia and Tulane (and Pitt - PA resident).
Thoughts on my chances of admission? Other schools I should consider? (Emory is out - can't stand Atlanta)
Basically I'm worried about my relative lack of experience and lack of science/math in undergrad (and my 41 percentile AW score... argh!)
Thanks in advance!
