Hey everyone! To start off with a disclaimer, I'm not ungrateful at all for the IIs that I've received so far or trying to humble-brag, so apologies ahead of time if this post comes off that way at all.

I'm in a situation right now where I have a handful of IIs to some very good schools, and I'd be absolutely ecstatic to be accepted to any one, but they all have very low post-interview acceptance rates. I haven't heard back from a single one of the many in-state schools and mid-tier OOS schools that I applied to. The same thing happened to a friend last cycle, and she ended up being waitlisted/rejected from all of the schools where she interviewed (which happened to be all top 25s) and had to re-apply this year. Obviously I'll try my best to perform well at the interviews that I have coming up, but I was wondering if there was anything that anyone recommended to perhaps garner some interest from my in-state schools?

Focus on interview performance. There is almost nothing you can do besides being neurotic.

I also have this wonderful, terrible dilemma. Like everyone said, you just gotta hope for the best and crush the interview. I know your friend's story might be scaring you, but that seems to be the minority - it's more realistic that you'll get accepted somewhere.

I am having a similar issue or concern.

I have interviews at lower ranked schools as well, but I've already been waitlisted at 2 of them.

The rest of my interviews are at higher ranked schools and I have this concern that if I can't get an outright acceptance from these schools, how on earth am I going to be accepted to these highly ranked schools?

Keep in mind that generally the acceptance rates include people who were initially waitlisted. The statistics are after the entire cycle is done. Just because a school accepts 50% of the people they interview does not mean that they OUTRIGHT accept nearly that many. Likely a large portion of the 50% accepted are initially waitlisted. Just something to keep in mind. This early in the cycle, schools are outright accepting a very low portion.
