Hey guys i am applying to both UIC and SIU and they havent sent me a secondary. I was wondering if others that are applying have recieved anything from them. I didnt turn in my LORs yet, is that why. My counsler at UIC said to wait until i got a secondary and turn in my LORs with it. My aadsas number is 1653 by the way.

This is my 2nd time applying to dental school (I am an IL resident). Check out infosource.adea.org type in your username and password....UIC updated their infosource information. I went to check the other day and they asked for the $40 application fee and it tells you where to send it. SIU I havent heard from, however, they take a long time to not only process the information but to get back to you. I was waitlisted there from January-April. From what I know they make decisions up until May (possibly even June/July). On the other hand UIC is very prompt and interviews pretty soon (Oct/Nov/Dec/Jan). UIC is not rolling admissions (meaning although its good to have sent in your application early, even if you are an IL resident it really doesnt matter if you submitted your app in May/June or September. They make decisions based on everyone's application at one time, not as they come in)...not sure about SIU. In any case, if you have good numbers I wouldnt worry (19+ DAT and approx 3.3+) you will get an interview at the very least. Oh and SIU (from what I know) doesnt interview unless you arrange a visit yourself. Good luck.

Hi guys,
I just started dental school at UIC and our class had entering stats of around 3.5 Overall GPA, 3.4 Science gpa, and 19/19 DAT scores. Those are rounded up a little bit, but hopefully it helps. Also, there are no out of state students in our first year class. Best of luck, let me know if I can help you with anything.

To echo what Zurik said....anyone who applies to either one of these schools and is an out of state resident better have a 4.0 and a 22+ (ok maybe a 3.7-3.8+). I am surprised that there arent any students from out of state at UIC...from what I have read in the past and from what Ann Shorrock has told me...it sounded like 90-95% of the class was in state each cycle...but I guess things change.

The D2's have one out of state student, while we don't have any. I think the decrease in state funding likely has something to do with this.
