I just wanted to know opinions on the ILA by Cook Gas (if you have had the opportunity to use them).

We have them and I think they are great. I think they KILL the Fast-Trach.

My take on the Fast-Trach ...
This device has a two page troubleshooting guide for when things go wrong - it describes complicated manuevers you are suppose to remember in a pinch on how to "fix" the situation. I certainly have a problem with this and have not had great success with this device on "the difficult management of easy airways" - let alone, difficult airways.

I like the handle on the Fast-Trach for adjusting placement. It's a little harder to do this with the ILA. I've never used either for difficult airway management, only for elective teaching purposes. I have had more success intubating through the Fast-Trach than the ILA, but I haven't used either one very many times.

The fast track has bailed me out on a floor intubation before - first time I have used it non electively. I didn't find it that easy to ventilate through though I didn't spend a whole lot of time trying. ET tube went in pretty easily though.
