Here's the story (please bear with me): I was recently informed that in IL, anyone who got their pharm tech license after 2007 must become certified after two years. I received my license in March 2010 and renewed it this past March so it expires March 2012. I'm not working as a tech right now . I was told that I can't renew my license anymore, that I have to take the exam, and that I can only take the exam if a supervisor recommends me to take the exam or take an accredited class. Is all that true? I want to take the exam, but I don't meet those two conditions. I haven't been able to find a job, and I haven't found an accredited program (I've looked at my local colleges and online). My questions: 1) Am I going to lose my license if I don't take the exam by March? If so, how can I get it back after March if I haven't found a job by then? 2) I may (crossing my fingers) get a volunteer position at a hospital pharmacy. Can a pharmacist or manager I volunteer with recommend me to take the exam? Or can I only get a recommendation from an employer I work with?
