I just found out that I got accepted to MWU (and I had my interview just two days ago!).
I'm happy about that but financially, it would be really hard for me to go to MWU so it is my last choice and I am still holding out for UIC and Rush (I was invited to interview at Rush but haven't had it yet).

The problem is, my deadline to accept the offer at MWU and fork over a hefty $750 deposit is December 20th...I will not have heard back from the other two schools by then, most likely...
Do I take the risk and hope I got into one of the other schools? I have a good GPA and GRE and a fair amount of observation/experience hours so I THINK I will get into one of the other two schools but I am nervous I won't and then completely regret not paying the deposit.
I wonder how much $$$ MWU makes off of nervous applicants like me who don't even end up attending their school....GRR.
Any thoughts?

Hi!

I'm sorry I won't be able to help you out. But I just applied to Midwestern (October 31,2011). When did you apply, and hear back from them? Should I call someone, because I haven't heard anything? And did you receive an e-mail saying they received your application from OTCAS? Also, if you don't mind..can you share your stats? I'm really hoping for Midwestern since I have a high GPA and not so high GRE score.

Thanks!

I'm not a big help but if you can afford it, do it. Is MWU a top choice or do you consider it your safety?

I applied to the AZ campus and have an interview in December, even though you are go into IL campus do you have any tips or advice on the interview?

OTgal03,
I submitted my OTCAS on Friday 10/14 and got an email on Monday 10/17 confirming that they got my application.
I got an invitation to interview via email on 10/18.
I had my interview on Monday 11/14 and got a phone call alerting me of my admission on Wednesday 11/16.
I have until December 20 to pay the deposit and accept my spot.
I wish I didn't have to decide before I heard back from Rush and UIC! ughhh tricky decisions.

You asked for my stats too so:
GPA:3.98
GRE: 1300

Just call UIC around early December and tell them your predicament. People do this all the time, and this will speed up the process for them deciding on your acceptance. Just tell them you only have until Dec. 20 and so is there any way they can give you a decision before then. You can almost certainly do the same with Rush. This is not an uncommon problem, so schools are used to getting phone calls like this. Good luck!

Did you decide on Nidweatern? Just wondering.. how was the interview? What types of questions were asked?

The interview at Midwestern was VERY laid back and relaxed--They just asked me questions about myself and it honestly just felt like having a friendly chat with someone.
On the other hand, the interview at Rush was definitely more formal and asked "job interview" type questions like "tell me about a success you are proud of" or "how is a new area of technology/research going to impact the OT field" and tricky things like that. Rush's interview day also included a "writing sample"...basically a prompt with an ethical question and you had about 45 minutes to hand-write a response.

if any of you have any questions about uic, feel free to message me; i am currently a firstie and just finished the first sem of ot school!

Hi! I got accepted to UIC and NYU, and I think I'll be heading back to Chicago. I'd love to get in touch with a current student -- would you mind answering a few questions for me! I'll send a separate email or message ~

Just curious, how much is the UIC program? I've tried to find it on their website but didn't find what I was looking for.

Where did you all take your human anatomy courses that had cadaver labs? I see UIC requires 30 hours but i'm not sure the city colleges A&P courses have cadaver labs.

I took mine at MXC...great teacher and we did most of our hours at Rush...we would meet there for class most days

FutureOTjunkie, was that just a normal A&P course or did you have to sign up for something different?

Not a normal A&P course. A different class. I took A&P 1 and 2 first then took the Cadaver course.

I've been accepted into both Rush University and Midwestern University (IL). I am fairly certain I'll be attending Rush, but just curious, what are the pro's and con's of each program?

This is a bit late.. but I was wondering which program you ended up choosing and why? I have also recently been accepted to MWU and Rush and am trying to decide which would be a better fit. If you have any input it would be very much appreciated 🙂
