Hey guys, feeling super unsure of where my stats land me in terms of what schools are reaches vs schools I can be a little more confident that I'll get into for OT. I'm a little worried that I'll be at a disadvantage because I'm graduating a year early and not taking a gap year, so I'll only be 20 when I head into OT school hypothetically. Any feedback or thoughts would be super helpful!

Stats:
Major: Psychology BS, Overall GPA: 3.94, Prerequisite GPA: 3.82
Activities: Casual rehab aide (inpatient, approx. 125 hours by the time I apply), Observation (inpatient, approx. 35 hours), Volunteer at outpatient pediatrics (approx. 20 hours), Direct care in a disability home (1 year, approx. 500 hours by the time I apply), Undergraduate research assistant in a lab focusing on ACEs and prenatal substance exposure and how that can be used to create diagnostic criteria for healthcare interventions like OT, Section Leader for a pre-health freshman year class (basically mentoring freshman specifically those interested in pre-health careers).

Why the concern? Have you taken the 6 to 8 prerequisite classes that schools require (this is most critical)? Followed by some relevant experience/hours. Schools can care less if you graduated early or took a gap year... I have never heard any school wanting a gap year. I graduated early and was accepted to 11 of the 12 schools I applied to. You must also figure out if you want to pursue a MSOT or OTD... some schools only offer one, some both... there is a difference in each program, but the prerequisites are basically the same.

None of your schools listed are stretch OT schools except Tufts... the stretch ones are: BU, Pitt, WashU, USC, Thomas Jefferson, UNC, Duke, and Colo State. UIC has poor communication, they also have a cadaver lab requirement. Univ of Washington (not WashU) and UNC primarily only take in state students. Columbia accepts later on. SJSU and Pitt accept early trying to fill their cohort quickly.
