Help!
I was planning on going to University of Illnois' vet school until I was offered a position at Missouri's vet school last week. It would be a lot of work for me to change the school that I am going to this late in the game, but Missouri was initially my first choice. I would love to hear from current students and grads what they know about the two schools and what kind of reputations their grads have in the real world. PLEASE be honest, tell me the good and the bad! I have until Friday(7/20/07) to make the decision. Thanks in advance for all replies!
Rachel

PS: a little about me.... I'm predominately interested in small animal with a possibility of equine. I think I want to do some research after I graduate, I'm especially interested in pathology/zoonotic diseases, BUT I do not want to do solely research - I will definitely be practicing for most of my career. I've considered working with exotics (zoo animals/research). I'm also going to be applying for the Army's Scholarship.

I worked with a vet who went to Illinois and she loved it. She was a very good small animal veterinarian as well...honestly, I would stick with Illinois. Heard a lot of good things about Illinois...

Missouri is VERY highly regarded in the research field.

Another thing to consider is they do 2 clinical years 2 preclinical. At Illinois, you do 3 preclinical and 1 clinical

Do you know when she graduated? What else have you heard about Illnois?

I think she graduated about 4 years ago. She really liked her clinicals there and liked the school in general, and I know Illinois has a good, solid program. It was actually one of my first choices, but I am going into large animal, and for what I want to do I am glad I am attending Iowa.

Another thing to consider is that we start classes really soon :scared: and that might be really stressful trying to go the Missouri route, but do what you think is best.

Good luck.
