I've done about ~40 hours of shadowing, about ~40 hours of volunteering and was the PR Secretary of Phi Theta Kappa at my community college for a semester. I've worked at a pharmacy for 7-8 months and worked at my college's computer lab for 1.5 years. Other than that, my application is pretty bare.

I have yet to take the mcat and I was thinking of taking it during the end of this spring semester. However, I'm just very lost about where I should be in the med school applications process.

I'm a first generation minority student and have no adviser. I would love some guidance.

Start preparing for the MCAT (with a prep course if possible) near the end of January if you are taking the test around May or so. Get on your letters of rec if you haven't already done so since those are the reason for many late applications. And start brainstorming for your personal statement.

My school has a pre-med committee and they want SEVEN LETTERS of rec...
I have my organic professor, one doctor (EM), another doctor (FM), and maybe a pharmacist :scared:.

I'm not exactly sure how that works when many schools won't take more than five letters. Explain?

Im not really sure myself...all I know is im in a huge crunch and I may have to forgo the committee letter(s). Maybe they'll make an exception because I transferred in as a Junior for the SPRING TERM!!!

Are you planning on applying in May? Or are you taking a gap year?

If you want to apply in may, open up the AMCAS from this year and see what it requires. Likely it will be the same-ish for you and you can see what you need.
