I'm a newbie - any UGA applicants out there?

Hello everyone! I just found this forum. I would have joined a long time ago if I would have known about it! Its nice being able to converse with fellow anxious people awaiting that ever looming letter! I applied to UGA (my IS) this year. Any other Georgia Dawgs out there? Any idea when we will be getting our letters? They said by April 1st, but I have heard that it can be early March as well.

Congrats to all accepted thus far! And good luck to all that are still waiting, like me 🙂

Welcome Veggirl. Im a UGA applicant. Great to have you boost our numbers, there are not many of us here on SDN but like you I think its merely because we didnt know about it sooner. There is a couple of UGA specific threads, I had planned on bumping them up in a week or 2 in anticipation of the upcoming letters. If your looking for GA info, most of them can be found by searching for Georgia in the thread search (top right of site). Good luck and thanks for joining us!

UGA is in-state for me as well (SC contract), and typically is the last school to send out acceptances (if the past yrs are any indicators). so i guess we'll just keep waiting with our fingers crossed

Hey guys...I'm an applicant at UGA (OOS) and the doctor at the clinic where I work who was one of my references said to me that he got a call this week (I think he said over the weekend). So they are definately starting the process!!! Good luck to all.

Are you OSS from a contract state or just plain OSS. Man Im so bummed, no calls to my refs this year (yet) or last.

Okay I saw after I posted this your a WICHE applicant. Gotcha. Good Luck. Are you really waiting for UGA to make a decision or have you already decided on the other school(s) you got into. Colorado wasnt it?

Good question. Ive been trying to figure out that one myself. I have spoken to 2 UGA-SDN users (both ISS) who said their references were contacted just prior to letters being mailed. Im trying to find out if they call OSS refs. Anyone know?

Still waiting to hear from Tennessee and Georgia. I have visited the Georgia campus, but not Tennessee, so I want to visit before I make my decision. I have heard from WI and CSU.

Well, I guess I answered my own question, your OSS and they called your refs. Welp, guess that means if no one calls then I dont even need to wait for a letter to come in the mail. 🙁 Bummer.

No need for bummer faces just yet! I called Teresa (the admissions counselor) today and she said applications are still in review.....IS and OOS. She also said all reference calls have not been made yet, they have just been started. And our letters should go out any time from a couple of weeks from now. So no bummer faces please! 🙂

😍Thanks veggirl! That definately makes me feel better. I didnt want to call and seem like a pest. So thanks for letting me (us) know.

Wouldnt it be nice if the school would (or could, I know they're busy) send a broadcast email with that info. Just to ease our minds a bit. I wonder how many calls a day the get asking about that stuf? I just wish I knew if ALL references are called or if its only random. Even if its bad news, no contact would at least be an indication of where I was in the stack.

Its getting really close to the deadline when I have to finalize my stuff for St. Matts. As the deadline approaches, Im really finding myself less enthusiastic about going and getting my hopes up more about UGA. Not to poo poo anyone else decision to go Carib, but personally Im finding it more difficult with each day to swallow spending $180,000 on an unaccredited education. The big question will be...is the alternative (waiting another year with no guarantee and remember Im on my 6th app cycle) a choice I can live with.
