Okay so, I am a 24 year old male that has interned at the Department of Radiology at Thomas Jefferson Hospital for 4 months. Along with that, I have been taking care of my completed handicapped brother who suffers from duchenne's and is ventilator dependent my entire life. After I graduated from High School I wasn't really sure what I wanted to do with my life, but I did enjoy two things, music and medicine. My grades are not what would be expected from someone who got a 33 on their ACTs and a 1510 on their SATs but it's mostly due to the fact that I was touring or working on music. I got some F's instead of withdrawing from classes because I did not abide by the withdrawal dates set by my college. Now for the last year, I have gotten straight A's and believe I can continue to do so. I am going to be re-taking every classes that I have gotten a C or lower in. As far as the MCATs go, I'm shooting for a 30 but we'll have to see how that goes. Do you think it is possible with the Grade Replacement program for DO schools that I can still get into a medical school? This is what I want to do, because music will not make me money for the rest of my life. If anyone can give me guidance in the right direction as to what I can do to become a better applicant it would be very helpful as well. Thank you very much for your considerations and time,

Sounds like you know what to do. Do it and bulk up your ECs including volunteering, leadership, research, whatever you can and you should be solid for DO. Good luck.

You're on the right track. Get that GPA >3.3 and pull a 25 or better on the MCAT and you'll get plenty of interviews.

This but shoot higher on the MCAT

And change your status from "Attending"- which is a doctor that has finished all of their residency and fellowship training to "Pre-med"
