You need to hear this. Stop feeling sorry for yourself and cut it out with the defeatist attitude.
You seem bright and motivated, you will be fine. This attitude does not go with the person you are describing. Someone that worked that hard and was that committed would be looking at this as an opportunity not wallowing.
You have to understand you aren't perfect and things don't always go as planned.
Find a job at a non-profit, you'll probably make minium wage. Move into a crappy apartment with roommates and try to live off what you make and not dip into your savings. It will be good pratice for med school and will actually make you feel good about how you spent your "Gap year or two".
YOU WILL BE FINE.
Seriously, go do something that will make you feel better about yourself. Since you already have 20,000 in the bank, I highly reccomend finding a rewarding job instead of one that pays the most. Get some warm fuzzies and karma going and most improtantly study for the MCAT.
