Hey guys,

Sorry if this has been asked before but I have a question about calculus. Do we have to take calc 1 and 2 or just calc 1? I have heard all different answers and have read all different answers online. Some of the schools like Touro-NY just say a min. of 4 semester hours. If it's just calc 1 I'm good because I hate math.

Thanks in advance

I don't know of any schools that require calc. II.

Most schools I have read about require some form of calculus and either calc II or statistics. I went with brief calc and statistics, because math is not my all-time favorite subject. Check the websites of schools you're interested in and do what feels best for you.

I don't know, calc is pretty easy I'd take it. I know for most science majors calc 1 and 2 are required for the degree.

I'm not much of a math person. Right now I'm currently a bio major at a cc but when I transfer out I will be a neuroscience major which does not require calc 2

That's great then I already took statistics and passed that. I did take a look at some school sites and have read some requiring calc or something higher while others just wanted calc I. I guess I'm going to have to do more research and email some schools to find out what replaces calc II if its required.

What DO school website have you been to that says they require calculus 1? Most DO schools (the one's I'm interested in) only list a number of math and/or computer science hours needed, no specific class that has to be taken.

I think most of you are talking about MD schools which most do require calculus 1.

I just checked on VCOM, LECOM, UMDNJ, and NOVA site for math requirements none require calculus.

On the CIB it states that most have a 6 hour required or recommended but again never lists calculus as the required class.

hmmmmmm good point it looks like calculus 1 is required by MD schools not DO. I just checked out some sites and didn't see calculus listed. Thanks everyone.

I took 8 hours, but that was 4 hours calculus 1 and 4 hours statistics. That covered me. I hated calculus 1 and I'm still convinced that if that line keeps going at the slope its going it'll eventually reach out and punch the X-axis. Who needs limits anyway....

I know what you mean I'm going through that now and there's time I just wanna throw that calc book aganist the wall. Hearing kids in class talk about it is pretty annoyng. Since most of them love that class I don't see where the fun is. I guess it depends on the major and if your a math person or not. But like you said who needs limits anyway lol
