Hello Everyone...

I received my step 2 ck score last week and frankly I am devastated. I scored a 223/96. My step 1 score is 235/98. I know these aren't terrible but I am a Caribbean student so different standards apply.

I don't know what to do now. Do I have any chance at anesthesia? I was planning on just applying to anesthesia but does this score mean I have to perhaps apply to a backup as well? Finances are tight so I'm so lost!

any advice anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated.

I am still shocked at my poor performance.

Hey there. Keep your chin up. Apply wide and go after your dreams. Don't worry, you will get interviews. Just make sure you apply wide. It will cost you up front but well worth the investment... likely the most important investment in your career. You'll be fine. 5 years from now you will be smiling. 😀😀

I would not worry about getting interviews. Apply to 30 + programs and you will likely get 15 interviews. Then it will come down to how you interview...

Thank you very much for all your kind words. It really picked me up.

I've come to grips with it and moving on. What's done is done. Can't change it now. I hope my yearning for anesthesia will come through in the interviews. I just hope I get enough. I just need one program to say yes!

Busting my butt now to finish my last touches on the personal statement!

I think your scores are fine, even with your off-shore status. I would be surprised if you didn't receive multiple interview invitations. After that, as has previously been written, it will be up to you. I will tell you that that one of the attendings at my training program who was a year my senior was a graduate of an off-shore program. He continues to excel as a transplant anesthesiologist.

I'm gonna step out on a limb and bet my first year attending salary that you'll be ok. if i win, you can thank me. if i lose, you'll just have to hunt me down for my salary.
