First of all, BIG THANKS to SDN! Special thanks to Novahopeful for your notes! I want to say to people who haven't taken the DAT please please please DON't be nervous because having good mentality was what saved me! I've been getting 17/18 on all my Top Score, and was almost giving up thinking that I wouldn't be able to score up to 20+ on the real thing. I stayed calm and just told myself to do the best I could. Here's my score:

BIO - 19
GC - 20
OC - 23
RC - 20
QR – 20
PAT- 19
TS – 21
AA – 20

It’s not amazing score comparing to many other SDNer’s, but I’m VERY happy that these scores are the highest of all my practice exams. I studied 4/5 hrs everyday for the 1st half and 6/7hrs for the 2nd half during this entire summer.

Bio: Since I’m a non-science major, bio has always been my weakest spot. The test was VERY random as you’ve read on SDN. I had the Kaplan online materials. The subject tests were very helpful and took notes on all wrong questions that I got. I read over and highlighted AP Cliff twice, but I always forgot the material a few days after reading. I also made flashcards on specific chapter that I felt uncomfortable with. I had a couple confusing DNA questions. Plants and classification questions are very basic.

GC: I didn’t do well on all my practice exams, and I wasn’t very confident walking into the test center. The Kaplan practice tests were helpful too, and I needed to do multiple times on some of them in order to score over 80-95%. However, my advice is DO NOT worry if you are not scoring well, because the real test is REAL EASY! I had about half conceptual and half calculation.

OC: It had always been my strongest out of all three. I also used Kaplan practice exams. Destroyers definitely prepared me well for this section. Nothing surprising came up. I finished the science section about 20min early and reviewed the bio questions again.

RC: Man I was lucky!! I never score over 17 on any of the practice exams. I didn’t know what happened to me, but I was VERY clam and focused during this section. There were a few tone questions, but they were not hard as you might imagine. My first passage was about the bridge, and that was the hardest one out of the three. There were about 4 true/false questions which required you to understand the passage. I didn’t panic too much and did better on the next two questions. I used Search and Destroy method.

QR: I also used Kaplan practice tests, and practices about every other day two weeks before the test day. I think 80% of the questions were either short or long word problems, but they weren’t hard if you remember the basic equations and conversion. I finished everything 10 mins early and guessed on about 5/6 questions. I think math questions are either you know it or not.

PAT: I’m actually pretty sad with my score b/c PAT has always been my strongest. I got around 22s on the CDP. The real thing I got was harder though. I just didn’t get luck on this section.

Again, don’t be nervous and perform your best!! It’s not that bad! So what do you guys think of my chances? I’m applying for the next cycle. I’m non-science major with aroud 3.8 sci and 4.0 non-sci GPA so far.

THANK you, SDN!

congrats! you were saying that your practice test scores were much lower than your actual DAT. did you use topscore or achiever? i'm taking the test next tuesday but am still not happy with my practice test scores. i have until friday to reschedule but don't know what to do.

How low is your score? I only took Kaplan and Topscore. I would say only postpone it if you are over 80% unsure about your performance b/c you'll NEVER feel ready.

Your scores look solid. You don't have anything to worry about.
