You people certainly worked hard and are intelligent enough to receive interview invites already and will probably get acceptance in less than 3 weeks on Dec. 1. So congratulations and I hope you the best for your outcome. I wish I was like you man it's kinda sad to know I won't be hearing any by then maybe just some cold rejections. While my parents and friends are asking me every day about interview invites I fake my emotion and make excuses about why I'm still empty handed and lie about my first rejection I received one week after I applied back in September. Now everyones just expecting I will get in somewhere eventually given that I applied to like 10 schools and spent thousands on the app fees and such and studied like a machine all summer and regular semesters but they dont know nothing about the process and deep inside realistically Im really expecting the worst case scenario. sorry about the rant but I had to let it out and want to know if theres anyone going through the same thing.

I'm glad you let it out and I hope it did make you feel better!
Don't lose hope. I'm going through this for the 3rd time and I can totally share your feelings and I sincerely wish you the best luck this cycle.
If you don't mind me asking, how are your numbers? Perhaps I can give you some more hope down the road based on my personal experience!

Hey... I am not feeling so certain of myself either. Im not enjoying this semester and I'm scared I wont get in. I've only had 1 predecember and the way things look I wont be getting any more.

How many interview invites have you had so far along with rejections?

Don't worry, I was where you were last year and I didn't get my first invite till a week into December. Then out of nowhere I got more in January and out of all of those I made it into a few schools. While having a pre-December interviews and acceptances can offer earlier peace of mind, remember that post-Dec interviews also matter and that you still have a very real chance.

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm pretty nervous honestly, as I don't have any good ECs or work experience to land meany jobs if I take a gap year. I think it's ok for us to feel uneasy/nervous, it's only normal. However, it's important that we stay motivated and seize any opportunities that come our way!!

Here's a motivational video, we're all going to make it brah

My overall gpa is low, too embarrassed to reveal but I have an upward trend. I thought my decent dat score might give me a chance.

Zero.

Zero.
Let me tell you something.. I have a "high" gpa and an "above average" DAT score and I only got 1 interview invite to a school that I wasn't really ever considering. And that interview isnt even until mid-January! The point is don't worry or be upset! This cycle is not over for ANYONE! Just do your best to be positive for the next few months, call schools you applied to and update them on any accomplishments you have achieved or any extra tasks you have been doing that would help your application.. Also, just enjoy time with family and friends and it is okay to tell them the truth. They will understand and help you.. That is what they have always been there for. Just give it some time and you might be surprised at where you might be in 9 months when school starts!

I had a 2.99 oGPA last year when I applied. Landed an interview in January, then waitlisted, then eventually denied. Brought it up to a 3.1 this year and have had one pre-december interview.

Just a tough process, in no way a reflection of you. Try to send out emails of interest. If that doesnt work, try to improve your application in someway.

As bad as it may feel, having a year off is not the end of the world. It was the best thing that happened to me.

Can you elaborate? I really don't want to take a year off; I'm not exactly in the same situation but I'd like to know why you say that

I feel your pain. I went through the same thing last year. It get more depressing through the holiday season when your whole family is around and everybody asking when you'll start school. You can let that crush you or motivate you. As for me, I used it for motivation because I see how much they care about my future to ask and use it as fuel not to let them down. If you dont hear anything back by feb, you should prepare to take your dat again. Since your gpa is low, maybe take more classes to show dental school you still trying to make improvements to your app. In the meantime, shadow and volunteer more. These two ec will help offset a low gpa a little.

I had average DAT scores (20AA/21TS) and average grades (3.6 oGPA, 3.5 sGPA), and still ended up applying to about 20 schools. There are so many applicants that it's hard to stand out sometimes and if you really want to broaden your chances, make sure you apply to as many schools as you can reasonably afford, especially if you are applying to OOS public schools.

Going through an entire application cycle is difficult, but even if you have to reapply, don't give up.

Dschool students I have met at the interviews have told me that they feel too burnt out to do any more schooling after 4 years of dschool but their friends who had a gap year have more energy to do residencies because they took a year off
