Hey guys,
I am registered for the January 21 PCAT, and I'm just starting to study right now (2 weeks before the test) 😱 . Much of the bio section is a review for me because I am a bio major, but the anatomy I really need to study!
As for the chemistry portion, I'm ok with the organic, but the general chem is something i need to spend a lot of time on.
I think that I'll be ok with the quantitative section as long as I practice. But the verbal I'm not too comfortable with. 😱
My stratagy is to focus mostly on the stuff that I'm comfortable with, stuff that I know I can get a good score on.

Does anyone have any advice on how to get the most out of the little time that I have left before the test?

I would break up my days into subjects. Figure out how many real days you have left that you can dedicate to studying, give each day a "subject" (e.g. general chemistry, anatomy etc.) and try to completely master it in that time frame. You could give a subject more than one day depending on how many things you feel that you need to work on. Obviously you can't learn all there is to know about general chemistry in 1 day or even in 2 weeks. But seperating subjects into days helped me to work hard and focus but then to move on at the end of the day and accept that I have put all I can into it and go on to the next thing.
I agree that you shouldn't waste too much time on things that you know you can't master in this short time, but don't just study what you're comfortable with. Study the things that you feel you can improve the most on. Maybe you know biology so well that all the review in the world won't make you more successful in that subject. Spend time reviewing things that you can improve! Good luck! :luck:

Hey I would review the bio a lot! I have a BS in chem and it was my LOWEST section! I thought it was going to be a review but when it's all general stuff, it's stuff I don't remember. Just study the easy stuff!

Will this be your 1st time taking the PCAT?

Yes, I was originally planning on applying only to the schools that did not require the PCAT, but then I realized that most schools made it a requirement.
I just signed up on Jan 6, and now I have less than 2 weeks to study.
I'm really hoping that I do well enough to get in, I really don't want to waste another year to take the test again and reapply.

i started to study a week before. i nearly devoted all my time to biology and thought i was so prepared. it was my lowest section. chemistry i reviewed some but by then, i was just worn out. at the time, i had just started to take ochem. there was a lot more ochem on the test than what i was anticipating. i was scared coming out of the test and ended up getting a 96 in the section.

How long did u prepare for it?
As for me, I studied the biology section for one whole week and did all the practice problems in the Kaplan's, Barron's and Petersen's books. On the 2nd week, I went thru the math section and paced myself on all of them. On the 3rd week, I studied organic and now the 4th week, I'm studying for the chemistry but haven't practiced doing problems. I plan to finish reading the materials by tomorrow and then start practicing the problem and pacing myself for during the weekend. Then for the last week, I tend to practice those problems again at a faster pace. Yeah, I sound like i'm over prepared and I know I shouldn't have any reason to bomb the test unless i'm weally not ... smart but now, I don't know why i'm so scare! Im panicking and the more I panick, the more I forget all those materials I have been studying so hard for the last 3 weeks. I don't know, I guess it's normal to get scare right? ahhh I need to run to destress myself.. 😱

I feel like biology is taking up way too much time...I'm a bio major, so this is supposed to be a review. :scared: I'm hoping to finish studying by Sunday night, and taking the practice test on Monday morning, and then for the rest of the week going over my problem areas - which I think are VA and Chem.
I think that the most imporatant thing is not to panic!!!

I started studying the 2nd week of November & I'm still scared out of my pants! I've gone thru the Barron's & the Kaplan books but I still feel so unprepared for general chem (maybe because it's been 4 years since my last gchem class).

I've been studying from Kaplan, and yesterday I bought the Peterson's PCAT review...i did a bunch of the biology questions, and they were so different from the Kaplan questions. I'm wondering if the PCAT will be more like Kaplan or Petersons?
