I am new to this arena and am hoping you can provide some useful advice to me.

I have worked for a group of ortho docs for several years and got to see a lot of pre/post operative foot and ankle surgery stuff. I realize that there are some differences between orthopedic surgeons and podiatrists, but the surgical aspect is really cool to me. The things that really draw me to podiatry are having patient interaction and being able to do things with my hands.

I am a non-trad student and have worked full-time through my academic career up until this past year. I am bilingual (spanish) and on the DAT I scored 19AA, 19TS, and 19PAT. My GPA is 3.4, and SGPA is 3.0. Part of the reason my SGPA is low is because of dumb early college experiences, and also because my wife and I had some medical complications when our first son was born. Circumstances made it un-safe for me to go to class and as a result I failed a few classes.

Is it too late to apply for the cycle that starts in Aug? I keep seeing posts of people that are just applying. How expensive is it to apply? Do any schools other than Temple and NY accept the DAT? I thought that I heard that Barry does, but haven't seen for sure.

Anyway.... for those of you who have been accepted, do you think I have a shot? Does anyone know how full the classes are at Temple and NY?

Thanks for the help, and sorry if there is another post like this out there.

its not too late.
maybe 200 bucks total to apply to those 2 schools. (its been a few years for me)
I am normally not a fan of students applying with the DAT, but you can counter any questions about your commitment with your work in the ortho office.
Get your app in now and good luck.
