hey everyone

i go to an american osteopathic school (currently a 3rd year) and i took my usmle a little while back. i scored 98/235.

i've done some research (cardio, epidemiology, ) which hasnt been published yet and ive been working with radiologists and have accumulated a few LOR's. what are my chances of getting into ANY radiology program? im looking to stay in the NY area, but i was just curious as to how i stack up??? any help will be greatly appreciated

I'm not sure what to tell you, but you might try posing this question on the Aunt Minnie med student forum (www.auntminnie.com) which gets more traffic than SDN. Also check out radiology.matchapplicants.com .

Radiology is competitive, but the overall match rates for US Seniors are pretty good, but for independent applicants it's really tough. I'm pretty sure D.O.'s are considered independent applicants (at least according to the NRMP site)

According to Charting Match Outcomes 2007... Of the US Seniors with a score b/w 231-240, 217 applicants matched and 10 didn't. That's a 95+% match rate.

Unfortunately of the independent radiology applicants with a score b/w 231-240, 28 applicants matched and 34 didn't. That's about a 45% match rate. Do you know if there are any DO radiology programs? You'd probably have a good shot at those.
