I've taken all my pre-reqs with exception of the biology series and the like. I have a solid understanding of most of my courses. I'm an engineering major with a chemistry double major.

I've taken and done really well in ochem, physics, etc, but I'm not doing so well in bio. I'm sitting at a B which is a 3.0 at my school. I'm barely doing average but most importantly I am not grasping the material I guess.

The other classes were much different in that if you could apply or figure a mechanism out you were solid. I guess I don't really know how to study for bio? or exactly what I should be focusing on?

Any advice? My exam is in two days and I feel like I'm not going to do so well on it...

1) which class are you referring to? General biology?

2) If so, I don't see why you finally noticed a problem 2 days before the exam. In fairness, that would seem like a lack of planning.

Biology is much more memorization intensive - you may need to work on figuring out what's important (ie. study the PowerPoint slides), and throw some repetition in there.

It's also good to relate the individual topics to make a cohesive narrative. It definitely makes remembering things easier.

Good luck!

As someone who was in a similar position ~ 7 yrs ago or so - you have to unfortunately pick up some serious memorization tricks/skills (use Anki, make flashcards, youtube, etc). And read a ton on the biology branch you're studying. Bio is a very different beast than engineering and chemistry. You're gonna have to bite the bullet on this coming exam but be prepared next time.
