😕
Dear Guys,

I submitted my AMCAS June 7th, and it's on hold to be reviewed (transcripts just got in early last week).
I'm really confused about this:
I've received 4 secondary apps (GW, Columbia, UConn, Dartmouth) 2 weeks ago, but didn't get any more apps last week.

I wish I knew if schools wait till the AMCAS is verified before sending 2ndary apps... or just send them?
And do schools look at credentials before sending 2ndary apps? Maybe I'm not getting any more because I'm not a numerically competitive applicant.

Please help! I'm unfamiliar with the AMCAS process.

Many thanks.

dude, it's still way early in the game to be worrying about secondaries. if you're REALLY anxious about getting them, look up threads from last year and outline out what you would say should you get the same questions this year. That way, you can cut time from writing out these essays and get them in ASAP. Secondary questions usually don't change much from year to year (though, I think some schools change their questions drastically, but not many schools do this).

I know it's hard to "chill out" when it comes to medschool apps, but try to take a breather once in a while. You're in a for a loooong year.

GOOD LUCK!!! 🙂:luck::luck::luck:

I predicted someone would tell me to "chill out", I'm truly sorry if I sounded too freaked out. I can't help being anxious. 🙄

I really wanted to know if all schools just send them out to everyone who applys, or do Med Schools pick and choose to whom secondaries will be sent?

Many thanks for your comments. 🙂

The vast majority of schools will send secondaries to everyone who applies (they want your money). Some schools, however, will screen applicants based on your MCAT and GPA and will only send secondaries to those applicants who exceed their initial cut-off.

As sendwich said, this is a bit too early in the game to be worrying about getting secondaries. Most schools are just starting the process now and the schools who've already contacted you are early birds.

I didnt get one from dartmouth and I've been verified for awhile. WTf?

I'm thinking it's because you haven't been verified yet. My transcripts haven't been received yet (sent two weeks ago) and I'm receiving far fewer secondaries than everyone else on SDN but the same number as you.

I think we just have to be patient and be thankful that we have a small break for now 😀

I've been verifed!

some schools don't send them out until august.

My post about verification wasn't directed to you. I was talking to the OP. Your situation, to me, is a mystery...

A pre-md with a sense of humor who isn't bitterly sarcastic. Nice.

Y'know, as I was typing that, I realized that anyone a few years younger than us won't even know about the original Twilight Zone. Gah we're old!

... but there will always be SDNers who are older :meanie:

Hey, no fair. I may be young (21) but I'm oldschool. I've seen many episodes of the original twilight zone.🙂

Check your spam/bulk mail folder. That's where I found my Georgetown secondary.
