I'm on NYU Wait List! Any Advice/Thoughts?

I received a letter yesterday informing me that I've been wait listed at NYU. Anyone know how many people go on the wait list and when I might expect to hear a definitive answer?

There is a lot of movement on the NYU waitlist, meaning that lots of people who are accepted do not choose to attend (mainly due to cost), so your chances are pretty good that you will get off of the waitlist and be accepted. Good luck.

You interviewed on Dec 11th correct? I interveiwed that day as well and have yet to hear anything? If you don't mind me asking where do you live?

That's right. I interviewed on 12/11 and I live in NYC. You live in Pittsburgh, so hopefully it's just a matter of the mail taking longer to reach you. I got a letter, so it was fast. Maybe you will be receiving an acceptance package which could take longer. Keep me posted.

A waitlist from NYU this early is pretty much an acceptance from what I have been hearing and Dr. Mejia said that she was treating anyone that was interviewed before christmas as people interviewed before Dec 1st. I'll take what I can at this point I hope you are correct and I will let you know when I get it hopefully Monday.

What is the difference if you are considered an interviewee before December 1st opposed to after? I am on the waitlist as well, interviewed December 7th.

i called NYU the other day and they said they are not full and still sending interview invites...

if they are not full, why would they have a waitlist?

(from the "Anyone heard from NYU?" thread) The admissions office told me that the waiting list wont be reviewed until at least mid-April (when the second deposits from those already accepted are in). So i'd say it's going to be another 3 weeks before they start going through the waitlist.

I am still waiting to hear back from NYU for this application cycle. A few of my friends called the admissions office religiously for 2 months and finally got off the waitlist. Ironically, they didnt go because the cost of NYU was too unappealing. 😆
