Eraserhead

Well, I have to share this with ya'll since I've been sharing everything all along. I was just offered a partial scholarship for all 4 years as well as a great on-campus housing deal for UCI that beats living in La Jolla by a landslide, and a bit of a change of heart about things, so I'm most likely going to be attending UCI this Fall. Sorry SpittingCamel and others waiting for Irvine, but good news for those waiting for SD.

I know its shocking considering my past posts, but I think this is the right decision for me. (Plus I just studied the match lists, and I am convinced that UCI students have better board scores)

Anyway, I'm happy and I know it so I'm clapping my hands. 😀

Ummm. Wow. And you said I would change my vote earlier. Congratulations on the scholarship, and I think you'll like it there, outside of the fact not many people dress very nice.

Congrats. So is this palo verdes verano place? I'm not too familiar with how they set up their housing.

How did you just find out? Did they tell you ask you were about to withdraw? I thought they let students know about scholarships along with the acceptance letter?

I don't know the details yet, but its cheap cheap cheap and not going to be affected by budget cuts.

I don't dress very nicely.

I wrote a withdrawal letter and mentioned my aid at SD, etc.

Ummm, yes you do.

What I have on right now: a blue Gap sweatshirt that is 2 years old, Pumas that are 4 years old with actual vomit on them from 2 weeks ago (no joke), and jeans that are a year old I think and pretty dirty. 😀

Well, first person I know who is taking a school ranked like 2 tiers lower. Not that it's a bad thing but it's encouraging to see people choosing lower ranked schools since many of us are contemplating the same. Congrats on the scholarship. 👍

What is this so-called tier you speak of? UCI is essentially a top 50 school in my book and top 50 is top 50. Top 10 is a different story, but I'm still waiting on two of those.

wow, big change of plans. thats awesome!! funny how they contacted you after you withdrew. thats classic. good for you!!

ps. i have similar shoes. haha 😉

Isn't it interesting that no UCI graduates matched at UCSD centers, but they did match at UCLA centers?

Congrats on making your decision, again. Their on-campus housing sounded pretty good. Who knows... maybe if the waitlist moves, or, even better, they let me into Prime-LC, we'll be classmates next year. We can shake up the OC a bit.... 😉

I think Jalby is trying to make a weird reference to the fact that you are gay. If this is the case, Jalby, why is it so hard for you to say gay or homosexual?

LoneCoyote- Yayyyyyy!

I know snowbear, and I'm trying to un-do the stereotypes which don't really apply to me. Although I would like to dress a bit nicer, its never been a priority for me. 🙂

I'm going to sleep on this decision then finalize tomorrow.

On a more related note, Congrats on the partial scholarship! Gosh this application process has been intense for you. The funny thing is that this may not be the end if Cornell or the JMP Program comes through.

LOL... if I were to end up there I guess I'd be one more not so nicely dressed person... but at least I can take hear in the fact that I do not conform to another stereotype... I do not own any flannel in my wardrobe 🙂

Geez! this whole application process seems so political. You mention the SD aid thing and look what they do. Now I wish I would have mentioned in my LOI to UCLA that I've been accepted to another UC (I'm currently waitlisted at LA)....I wonder if that would have had a better effect.

Good to know though Eraserhead...

It's a running joke. Besides, I wouldn't want to totally out someone who might not want to be totally out.

Its not over but its getting closer and it feels good.

LOL, wait you don't drive a truck? Geez, who are you anyway?

I'm in shock. Congrats! Can you delete all those anti-UCI and -OC posts now?

I don't think I made any anti-UCI posts did I? Its really the city I was referring to. I still think SD is a better city/location but in this case I'm overlooking that.

Does the words "Better Homes and Garden" ring a bell????

Congrats, you bastard!! Any way you can go through med school with minimum debt is a good way! Although I am crying, I am still happy for you.

About the crying, yes! About you being a bastard... sort of  Really, I meant what I said about the debt. Congrats, man. How long did they give you to accept/reject their offer?

Don't cry. Boston is much more fun. You'll love it.

Till next Wednesday! But I'm just sleeping on it. I need to move on with my life.

Your question: omg, you're joking, right?

My answer: About the crying, yes!

Who cries about someone else's med school decision

That's a pretty hefty time frame - awesome. Does accepting the offer mean it's a final thing...i.e. no Cornell?

No, no it means I"m giving up SD that's all. I LOVE CORNELL. CORNELL IS LIKE A WARM BLANKET OF HAPPINESS (in my mind) NO MATTER HOW MUCH IT COSTS.

WTF? Are you f****** nuts??

You realize you've chosen Janet Reno over a supermodel just cause Reno had money and was offering to be your sugar momma. Traitor!!

1st: Bjork is a freak

2nd: Eraserhead is a musician/music group?

I am glad to see you finally came to your senses. I forgive you for the negative PM earlier (just kidding). You will have a great time at UCI! Besides, paying $325/month for an appartment and being able to walk to your lectures is priceless. You will also be living right by the ARC, the Anteater gym, which is better than Bally's, 24 hr fitness, and Body's in Montion combined.

And as for you other guys trying to decide which school to attend: LISTEN TO YOUR 4TH YEAR FRIENDS! We know what we are talking about, we've been there. Good luck to all!

bjork is fuken amazing!! i do admit she does do wacky things....plus she can kick reporter asses!!

but as a musician, she is soooooo talented, u should see her live....its such a treat.....she blew me away as well as the audience at the hollywood bowl this past summer

Wow Big change of plan...but I think it's a wise decision.

If by "older women," you mean disgusting, decrepid, and androgenous, I guess there's nothing wrong at all. 😱

Perhaps. Do they have a specialty where you only work with women aged 18-25?

JR thanks for your advice. I didn't mean to be negative, but yes I think I was in denial. Even the 4th years at the UCSD second look looked REALLY TIRED. I WON'T DENY IT!

BJORK ROCKS! Eraserhead is a film, I'd like to think I have good taste in film too.
