intellectual conversation with anyone high on pot, drunk on beer, or both at the same time >>> intellectual conversation with sober WingedOx.

The periods of my life when I've smoked consistently (1+/day) were also the happiest, or at least they were generally happier. Smoke and go to the gym, smoke and head into lab, smoke with buddies and play video games, etc.

Obviously, weed puts your mind in a different place, and that can be debilitating. But once you get used to it and can function normally, it's awesome. A lot of people smoke a couple times and decide weed is not for them, but consistent smoking is a totally different beast.

When I smoke regularly, my mood is just better. I take the time to enjoy simpler things, for example. Weed gives me a different perspective on a lot of stuff, which is useful. Undoubtedly my life is better because of weed.

But, I've quit to make sure I'm at the top of my game mentally for med school-related stuff.

Is this a joke? Nobody I know who really does drugs advertises it for attention on an anonymous forum. 😛

Why can't it be for entertainment? Clearly people are interested in this.

The amount of ignorance regarding weed with blind assumptions in this thread is overwhelming. You scrubs want to be doctors? Get your facts straight.

Its rather difficult to gather unbiased facts on the subject IMHO. 🙁 Our government has classified it as schedule 1, so its basically impossible to do any real research into the effects of it...

can u enlighten us...

seriously tho, we have legalized more toxic and lethal substances (tobacco n alcohol) so it's hard to justify weed's prohibition...

I'm pretty sure he was referring to the people talking about weed connoisseurs being evil people who will fail at life.

The problem is that the debate between smokers and non-smokers gets really uncompromising, with neither side yielding any ground at all. But really, which website do you find more scientifically credible here?

http://www.nida.nih.gov/infofacts/marijuana.html

or

http://www.perkel.com/politics/issues/pot.htm

I think the latter sums up pretty well all the arguments I've heard from avid pot smokers, but some of the claims (making you "smarter" or think differently) are so clearly unsubstantiated it's ridiculous.

Lol as if we needed science to tell us that.

I could really care less whether someone smokes weed or not. I know both high-functioning and low-functioning smokers (just like the normal population!).

However to me, weed seems like a really stupid reason to jeopardize a med career.

I am here with my boys. we are first year med students. got a test tuesday on 30 lectures and we just got high as ****. pass fail system hahah.....

hahaha awesome OP, I had my fair share of drunkness and getting high last night too, though im not in med school yet, but its still awesome as f***.

that's why we legalize, my friend. 🙂

Fair point. I actually agree.

However, whether it should be legal or not is irrelevant at this point. You get caught, you suffer the consequences. That's how the system works. We can't choose which laws to follow, and until they are changed, it is probably best to just follow them. Especially if they are drug laws. I know and understand (and even agree) with the arguments for legalization. But, I am not going to be sympathetic if someone gets caught because you know what the laws are and what the risks are.

Up to the individual whether they want to risk it or not.
