Hey guys, completely new to this sub-forum. So I hope I posted in the right place.

I really need some advice with my step 1 planning. Mainly, I am hoping to take my Step 1 June 4th. My classes end in May, and then I have all of May and June off to study.

If I stick to my date of June 4th, I have 6 weeks of classes left, and then about 5 weeks of free study time starting from May. So, 11 weeks from now.

I'm currently on Spring break for the rest of this week and have no other work I need to do, so I want to hit the ground running now.

My main goal for now is to get through all of Uworld by May 1st, before my free study period begins.
The issue is, I am really slow with Uworld. I realize everyone covers it differently, but I feel like I've hit a wall. At my fastest, I think I can do a block of 40 questions in one day.

I have 1687 questions left. Can I realistically cover this amount by May? (while balancing classes) What pace should I be doing in which it's sufficient to learn, but still fast. I used to annotate everything, but each question was taking me around 20 minutes. I've sped it up now that I can do one question in 7 minutes, but at this pace, one 46 question block still takes me an entire day.

At the moment, I'm doing tutor mode. I take several minutes to try and answer myself, while looking up the relevant section of FA (this takes around 2 minutes). Then I click the answer. If incorrect, I flag it. Incorrect or correct, I read the main explanation, and the main objective (I don't read the wrong answer explanations anymore, unless it's absolutely relevant). I try and annotate the Q I.d. into the relevant section of FA, and anything from the main objective which is not already written in FA. this all adds up though.

Any tips on how I can speed up the process, and is what I'm hoping to do is realistic? How fast are you guys able to do a 46 question block? How do you go through it?

Thanks again.

1687 divided by 40 = about 42 questions per day. Very doable if you can allocated 2-3 hours per day to this task. I'm one of those people who takes practice questions pretty quick, and I don't spend 30 minutes going over the answer to one question like some people. I also don't read the explanation if I got the question correct (most of the time). But I am planning on doing like 10k questions before the exam, so aint nobody got time for reading 20 mins deep into a left-field anatomy question.

Thanks cbrons, I feel better hearing that. I am definitely willing to put in 2-3 hours a day, and it's a realistic amount of time I can dedicate.
My goal then is to get my pace up to be able to get a block of 42 done in 3 hours. It might take me a few days of trial and error, but it's good to know that's a possible speed. 🙂

That's a cool approach, I wish I had the confidence to be that fast. Hopefully in time! Definitely more questions I can get done the better. Hopefully I can get through all of Uworld.

I was thinking of trying to get through 10k questions as well but am not sure exactly where to find that many. I've finished Rx and most of Kaplan and will finish Uworld in the next couple weeks. I have Robbins and Guyton question books and that totals about 8,500 questions (give or take).

Is there another good question source? Obviously I'll do a few NBMEs as well so that might get me another 1k.

Haven't used it myself, but a few of my friends seems to like Firecracker. Might be worth a look too.

I think the new Becker Qbank is pretty strong. Questions are possibly a little easier than Uworld on average, but there are some left-fielders in there.

Also I have tried USMLE Consult Qbank, and it seemed ok to me. Definitely on average easier questions, however, it is an cheap option if you have a lot of time. Now one person did say it "had a lot of errrors" but havent verified this. I am pretty much doing them in this order:
1. USMLERx
2. UWorld
3. Becker
4. Kaplan

The Robbins (red robbins... well now "Purple robbins") is good for class exams, but I think those Qs are probably harder than USMLE step I questions based on my experience with the NBME simulated Step I exam I recently took.

zeppelinpage4 I'm still early on in my studies, at this point I'm finding it's taking me an average of 25 minutes to fully digest a Uworld question. More if it's something bizarre or I don't have a firm grasp on.

How many questions are there currently in UWorld? Sorry to sidetrack but I'm scared of going too slowly as well and want to estimate a realistic time of completion. Thanks!

Thanks messengers! That's where my pace was too, I got it down to 10-15 minutes now, but I'm still worried it might not be the pace I need for my study period. 25 mins/question-->a 46 question block can take around 19 hours. I don't think I'd be able to get through all of Uworld at that pace. But that's the pace I digest well at.

Hi all,
Would you guys please share how did the exam and handling the qbanks finally go?
And those who did 10k questions, like almost 4 Qbanks, how much did that approach help for step 1 and how were your scores?

Thank you
