IMG, 220s step 1

Hi all
I realize this has been discussed in a recent thread, but I would really appreciate an IMG specific perspective on this.
I am applying for the 2016 match. My step 1 score is in the early 220s . I plan to spend the next year working as a research associate in neurology, and hopefully do better on my step 2.
In your opinion, does matching in neurology in the U.S seem like a reasonable goal? Or should I focus on local programs? I'd also really appreciate some advice on what my application strategy should be if I apply.

I'm not an IMG but it doesn't matter because it is always the same advice. Do as well as you can on step 1/2. Rotate through neurology departments in the United States and get the best possible letters of recommendation that you can. Apply to every program and go on as many interviews as you get it.
