AMG is more likely to get spots in scrumble than IMG. Is there any IMG who won scrumble before and can share experience? Anyway Chance may be mini for IMG in scrumble.
I dont think so. The number of senior AMG who scrambled last year was 949 (6.3%) compared to all others 5694 (32%). And the unfilled spots were about 1660 spot. I think an equal number of AMG and others will find spot in the scramble at least from this data (match statistics). On contrary, still my personal opinion, most AMG who scramble want specific specialty or geographic area and prefer to do research or similar in this year and apply next year compared to FMG who usually wants any residency anywhere in US.
Umm...how come you keep calling it the scrumble?
History of an IMG applied to, as many IM as he can, did not match. Next year, as many surgeries as he can, still did not match. Third year as many IM, Surgery and few other supplementary programs, as he can, did not match. In scramble he got prem. surgery in one program (because one resident was killed on night shift in that program). The things he adds to his CV in the third year are; passed step3 and the result was in his hand before the match day and he joined a research group as volunteer for about 6 months or so.
In terms of success percentage, I think AMG may be higher in scrumble than IMG. In other words, if you are AMG, you are more likely to get spot in scrumble, but if you are IMG, you more likely fail (because low percen of IMG can win scrumble).I dont think so. I do not think either have a chance of Scrumbling-you may have a shot to scramble but that is another topic for another day.

i really havent heard of amg's not getting a position during scrambe or post match. but for img's there are plenty who don't get positions during scramble. amg's have their schools that help them during the process as wel. where usually the img's have to try hard on their own,
and it is referred to as the scramble, for your information, not scrumble. and after scramble, it is then post-match..
The chance for both is minimal because the AMG who scramble is USUALLY from the bottom of the barrel and may be from the top. The FMG who scramble always not competitive and few are excellent candidates. I give examples I personally know from people scrambled before:
Senior AMG from top medical school with board scores 99/99 applied to many programs and selected only few interviews in top programs and ranked them. He did not match and cannot secure position in scramble (he is looking for specific field in specific area) and he is applying again.
FMG graduated more than ten years ago, PhD from US, step1, step2 and step 3 all recent and from first trial with good scores. LOR from US faculties, no green card, applying to noncompetitive fields (IM, FP, etc). Scrambled and he is applying again.
In addition to qualification, the luck has some role here (specially for the average candidate including myself) because you dont guarantee where the program will rank you and what the other candidates before you in the rank will rank this particular program in their list.
As stated above, we can continue talking in your next new thread (just kidding)
Good luck in your interviews and I hope you will not wait for scramble or as you like it scrumble.

scrAmble scrAmble scrAmble
Scramble, Scrumble, skkramblle, whatever, the position is the most important

It reminds of.....
"Lets get ready to scRUMBLE!!!""Scrumble?" Doesn't that have something to do with Rugby?
Lol, thats scrum!
Scrum, where packs of opposing players push against each other for possession (of the rugby ball, that is)
I've been ignoring this thread because I am not an IMG, and I'd rather ignore the thought of scrambling right now. I just thought I would plead with SOMEONE to change the title of the thread, since I picture an international steel-cage event each time I log on.
Clearly my wishes have been covered. I'll move along now.

F'in 'A' dude...seriously...it's scrAmble...NOT scrUmble...
i'm sorry, but this is the funniest thread on sdn.

Im going to call fake on this one. Non native speakers of English dont talk like that. He uses the word 3 times per post as though its amusing or something.

You might be right.
He tried a similar post on another forum but was totally ignored.

His thread in another forum is totally ignored does not mean anything at least this post compensate for that. You already have those threads in this, well known forum, totally ignored and still does not mean anything.

Chill dude.
You missed the point.
The point being, not that no one replies, but his insistence on spelling it that way.

Do you think SDF is a forum to fix spelling mistakes or how to formulate sentences or make jokes because of that? I think you may found forums out there dealing with that, and what do you expect from one talking or writing not with his mother language? And who say that English or any other language for example is the best language ever (I believe others out there will say me I say that!!)
Well look at it this way, assuming for a second this is even for real, if this persons English skills are that pathetic, he wont exactly ace the USMLEs or even the TOEFL. There are plenty of IMGs (especially Europeans) with excellent English and exam scores who go on to get good residencies in the US.
But either way, this post is totally lame. If its fake, why would someone bother acting so bizarre? Has this person nothing better to do?

I agree with you. Verities with different percent exist, IMG with broken English (especially from Far East) with poor English and high scores and other credits go to good residencies. AMG with excellent English and poor exam scores go to scramble and so on. I am not defending those in the field with miserable English, but this language barrier will be there and frequently you will find these mistakes which will not disturb the meaning in particular setting like this thread. Thanks for your input.

NICE! Way to think outside the box!!
This thread rocks! Scrumble...what a great word. It sounds like a delicious dessert topping.
u r funny! You are right it does sound like something served at a "match day" party!
mmm...yummm...i want my scrumble
