IMGs spots available for plastic surgery?

Hey there, I was just wondering how many spots, if any, are open to International Medical Graduates (IMGs) every year? Is it even possible for an international graduate (from Europe) to try to aim for a plastic surgery residency in the States?

Any opinions are greatly appreciated...

Check nrmp.org and look at their "Advanced Data Tables" for the 2008 main residency match to see how many IMG's matched into plastics over the last 5-6 years.

To see the overall success rate for IMG's applying to plastics, look at the "Charting Outcomes in the Match" for 2007, again available at nrmp.org under "Data and Reports."

It is "possible" just bloody difficult..i personally know of 1 guy who matched into plastics (but he had a ton of research work- had spent 3 yrs in the US doing research..other things like great scores & stuff goes without saying i guess) Plastics is very competitive even for AMGs so that obviously makes it much harder if u're an IMG..
That being said, every year a couple of people make it into plastics, neuro, derm, ortho, ophthalm etc.. but I'm sure that even they have "back ups" just in case!
I don't know the stats or anything..that would be available on the nrmp site..& i'm not yet in the system so i'm probably not one of the more knowledgeable people on the subject, but this is my 2 cents.
I do know a few people who've got into ultra competitive fields here, so it is achievable...
