What are you all using to study Immuno? First Aid definitely does not seem like enough. The BRS book just isn't doing it for me, either. I am probably going to go through all the info thoroughly in my immuno text (Parham), especially looking at the figures and tables. Any suggestions on a better way to approach Immuno?

Depending on how much time and how much I want to dedicate to immuno, I might use either BRS (which isn't that good, or so I hear) or use the Lange book, which I fear may be too overbearing.

By the way when I say "all the info" I mean all the info in First Aid. No way do I have time or desire to sit down and read that whole immuno text!

The Immuno part of Lange is about 75 pages and can be read in 1 day. Assuming you somewhat grasped Immuno the 1st time around this should be a nice review. Haven't taken the boards yet (19 days) but form ppl who have, I've heard Lange is more than enough.

That's a tough question. I just used my course syllabus for my studies. Robbin's Basic Pathology covers it pretty well too in the Immune System chapter.

Other people think HY Immuno is the way to go, but I got sick of reading it after about 10 pages (so boring).

Which Lange are you referring to? I'm going to bag the Kaplan notes as they are too dense for some of the stuff and go back to Micro Made Redic. Simple for Micro, but I don't want to bust out Parham either.

What do you guys think, Lange, BRS, or HY?

I gotta get one of 'em :-( but at least our library checks them out.

I checked out HY today, it was pretty good. I read it in about 3 hours, but will have to do some more reviewing before I feel good about immuno. Of course I did some Q bank questions and there were several topics not mentioned in HY, or even in my immuno classes for that matter 😕

yah i'm thinking of going to my kaplan class tommorrow and then hear what they have to say. however, i do plan on reading HY immuno? well maybe......any other opinions about HY immuno out there ?

There is a about 100 some pages in Lange - Microbiology and Immunology - review book (NOTE: this book cover both immunology and micro, so only go for the immuno parts). I believe the latest edition is 6th. It has the reputation for being one of the more comprehensive but not too long type of immuno review. There is another 40 some pages at end on quick facts about micro bugs...supposely very high yield.

I think one of the best parts about this book are the questions at the end. Some have a clinical slant, some are basic science. I think its a solid way to review the material.

I have to second this...4 hours of uninterrupted reading can clear this immuno stuff out. It is the best short-term resource out there for immuno, and then you should review FA for high yield facts.
