Mandibular movement can be classified into 2 categories based on controlling factors:
1) Condylar Guidance
2) Anterior Guidance
Condylar Guidance factors:
1) Slope of Articular eminence
2) Slope of Medial wall of mandibular fossa
Note: Increasing any of these factors can increase the condylar guidance and viceversa
Anterior guidance Controlled by Antr teeth
Depends on 2 factors
1) Horizontal overlap ( Overjet)
2) Vertical Overlap (Overbite)
Increase Overjet - leads to
Decreased Antr guidance
Increased Overbite - leads to
Increased Antr guidance
Note: Logic how would u increased Overbite ? - Increase the cusp heights and increased slopes of tooth.
