So I know AAMC changed up their traffic rules for this year although I don't honestly understand exactly what they mean. But I am wondering, could they be resulting in more IIs during this cycle for some reason? Is there any indication that significantly more (or less) IIs are being sent out this cycle than in the past? Part of this stems from the fact that I've gotten way more IIs than I expected (especially this early) and I'm wondering whether it's some sort of fool's gold thing going on.

Also, would the traffic rules impact post-interview acceptance rates? In other words, is old USNWR data on those numbers (still) accurate?

In the DO world, which has had to deal with a lack of traffic rules for years, we interview the best looking candidates first, and tend to cut them the most slack early in the cycle.

Beyond that, who knows!

I suspect that you have a good app, hence your multiple IIs. Good candidates with good apps get multiple IIs

Funny how people worry about not getting II's AND getting too many II's 🙂

When you go to each interview, they might mention how many interviews are given out, and just compare it to the data on MSAR. At my state schools, they are giving out the same amount of II's as years prior (as so they say).

I wonder if schools send out II to OOS applicants with stats above their averages first. I've been lucky to get 5 II so far, but they tend to be from lower-tier OOS private schools with stats below mine. Someone asked about traffic rules during an interview and the dean said that there won't be much different, aside from more people possibly being waitlisted rather than straight accepted (that was just one school though).
