Hi all --

Any thoughts as to how crucial it is to have the newest edition of First Aid? Are there significant changes between editions?

I ask because my school allows us relatively little board prep time (and we take the test early, end of April or so), so I was thinking of trying to tackle the basic science portions early on, before the new edition is released, and focus more on path later (that is, when I actually begin path). I guess a more basic question would be does it even make sense to begin study so early (summer after MS1)? Obviously there would be a lot of additional review of those topics as Step 1 approached, but I'm considering starting to review the first-year material over the summer. Is this a good idea or overkill?

I apologize if this is a silly question, but my significant other is currently in the throes of board study, and watching him go through this makes me want to get a head start and begin studying... now.

If you havent annotated anything in your old FA (preferably from UW), then its better to go with the latest edition since it has tables similar to the ones in kaplan and some info that was missing previously) from UW.

If you have taken notes and all in your FA, then Id say go to barnes and noble and go thru the new first aid once and see if YOU think its worth spending money on it!

actually when the new FA came out there was a thread comparing the 2009 and 2010 edition. it might help if you search for that thread! from what i recall, there were just like 12-15 pages of extra information and incorporation of some molecular biology which is becoming more common in testing.
i plan on simply copying the extra pages from someone who has 2010 into my 2009.
