Hi everyone,

I noticed that a few people said that the Kaplan 2010 lecture notes were much longer than the new color 2011 versions. Does anybody know what was cut out from these? If not everything, then at least somethings (and whether those were important or not for those that took Step 1 already)? Thanks in advance 🙂

Hi everyone,

Actually, I don't believe that anything was cut out at all. The reason for the difference in the sizes of the two, is that Kaplan finally decided to use color photos in their newest edition. In order to do so, they changed the type of paper that they used to the glossy kind that you find in Goljan's Rapid Review of Pathology, and the images section of First Aid. As a result, these new books are a lot thinner, but don't have any less info. If anything, they have more info. The 2011 notes are the same as the 2010 notes, only the Micro/Immuno and Pathology books have been completely overhauled, due to the inclusion of color images. So, if you already have the 2010 notes, then it's not important to upgrade. Hope this helps.

Here's a visual confirmation (from another forum) on the size differences between the two editions. Take care.

Thank you very much! It seems from reading the pages that there is not much of a content difference but rather they cut 50 pages from the Path book, 50 pages from the Micro book, and they used thinner paper (or at least this is what one of the posters on the link said).

Thanks again 😀
