The AAVMC's Admissions & Recruitment Committee, along with the Veterinary Schools have made some pretty radical changes to the application and processes this year! For starters, the application will launch almost two-weeks earlier than normal (Mid-May) and the official deadline is now: September 15th, 2015.

Holy smokes :0 biiiig changes. Any idea as to whether this will change the April 15th commitment deadline for us too?

This will not impact the April 15th acceptance date. Many of these changes are driven by applicant behavior... the later applicants hit submit, the later the schools get the data, the later the schools get the data, the later their decision process is. The new deadline will build in a few weeks for verification to complete by the time schools need the data. 🙂

We're still working on GRE integration. Not likely for VMCS 2016 as there are to many other changes occuring this year, but we're hoping to have it in place for VMCAS 2017.

Sounds like these are changes for the better. 🙂 Does this mean the confusing "recommended deadline" for verification will be done away with?

(However, the prospect of big changes also stresses me out a bit in the event that I have to reapply again next year. As a re-applicant this year, I liked that I knew what I was doing for the most part in regards to my VMCAS app!)

The first post says next year's deadline will be 9/15/15, so unless that's a typo that would be the upcoming cycle. I think they mean VMCAS 2016 as in for those hoping to matriculate in 2016.

Thank goodness they ditched the ETS PPI for this year. I'll still keep them on my application roster.

Valid question. I also wonder how many applicants felt blindsided by the addition or had trouble getting them completed.

I'm glad they're being phased out...no need for two different evaluation systems. Plus, they seemed rather impersonal.
