Hi everyone. I was trying to scroll through the forums just in case this was already discussed but there is too much to go through. If someone could tell me, just how important is it to know key names like Hooke, Darwin, Oparin, Miller-Urey, etc.? I was going through some material, like AP Bio, and not a lot of names were mentioned but in the bio texts there is always a great emphasis on things like this. Just wondering for those who have taken the exam whether or not names were important.
Thanks.

The only names that come to mind are:
1. Darwin - Natural Selection
2. Mendal - Pea plants + genetics
3. Lamark - acquired characteristics evolution (his theory is incorrect btw)
4. Watson + Crick - DNA

I wouldn't get too caught up in memorizing names, just be familiar with their ideas and how they contributed to the field. Here is a list of some names you might see: http://quizlet.com/5366987/ap-bio-important-people-flash-cards/

Yeah I saw one name, and it was asking me about Darwin's theory of natural selection. So I didn't even have to know it was his theory really.
