Hey all I have a couple of questions about Pharmacy School applications:

1) Even though most of the deadlines for submission of application materials to pharmacy schools are around November and December, when would be a good time to submit all materials to the schools? I know that they always say earlier is better, but would u say that submitting everything in August or September would be ok and would not be considered too late given the fact that the PharmCas application service opened on June 1?

2) Can you work on a phamacy school supplemental applications at the same time as working on PharmCas. I know that for medical schools for instance you need to submit the Amcas application to receive a secondary application from a school. Is this the same way for pharmacy? Do you have to submit PharmCas to schools in order to start working on the supplimental applications?

I appreciate all your input on this matter. Thanks

1) As everyone says, the earlier the better. From my understanding, PharmCAS doesn't even send out apps until late July/early August.

2) I would think that you have to submit your PharmCAS app first, but I'm sure each school is different. It's best to call each school and find out first hand.

1) Earlier is better for most schools, though it makes a little less difference in regular admissions. Of course, applying a week or two before the deadline is not a good idea as the last interview sessions you would be offered is more competitive even for regular admissions. I don't believe that submitting your application in August makes a huge difference over June and July for regular admissions though it does help a little for rolling admissions. However, things get sketchier the month before the deadline.

2) Sure, but be aware that some schools will not allow you to access their secondary app resources until they verify your PharmCAS app. Pharmacy schools are somewhat like medical schools as they don't submit the secondary until after the PharmCAS, but some schools have the application ready to go on their website.

Basically, go to your school's website and see if a secondary app is there. You can work on it even if you can't turn it in for a while.
