Hey everyone!

For those of you who've taken the DAT already, I just had questions about how the testing environment is...I just wanna know what to expect since I'm taking the test tomorrow morning.

Do we get unlimited paper for the test? If not, how much do we get and how do we get more if we run out of the sheets we have?

Do I need to bring my own pencils and erasers?

Is there a timer on the screen just like there is for the practice exams?

Will there be a place for me to keep my stuff (purse, cell phone, etc..) during the test?

Are we allowed to touch the screen/put paper up to it? What was the pixels trick for the angles part that people are talking about?

Thanks in Advance for your help. I'd appreciate your responses if you have time!!! I'm taking the exam at 9 am tomorrow (Thursday) morning!!! I'd love any additional advice you can give me too. thanks a bunch!

--> you get six sheets at a time, once you need more paper or pencils you raise your hand and they will come give you more and take the one you used. you can't take anything out from the center including your paper.

Do I need to bring my own pencils and erasers?

--> you can't bring anything into the center, even your wallet they want you to put in your locker.

Is there a timer on the screen just like there is for the practice exams?

--> YES

Will there be a place for me to keep my stuff (purse, cell phone, etc..) during the test?

--> They have lockers they provide you.

-->Yes, Use the paper take one sheet and fold it over so you have a square, cut off the excess which will become your ruler, use the square for hole punching and the bottom strip as your "foldable ruler" they do not say anything if you touch the screen. I wouldn't ask them this question, since some workers just like to stay safe and say "no."

-> I got done w/ the science section 30 minutes early and decided to take a break and let the timer run down, apparently you have to get permission before you can use the bathroom. Oh well, I needed by raisins and ginko downed by energy drinks.

--> Good luck.

We are allowed to use the paper as a "foldable ruler"? Wouldn't that make the angles 100times easier?

What is this "foldable ruler"? Would you mind elaborating on it a little bit please?

The "foldable ruler" is just the edge of your paper. Which would mean you can fold it to the angles on the screen. I tried calling the center to see if we can put folded paper up on the screen but no one picked up.

I know they monitor the ongoings of the actual testing room via surveillance, so I would ask about the angle ranking/paper use prior to doing so.

My experience sucked huge elephant nads. The building adjacent to the center was undergoing construction, and the noise was just f'n ridiculously loud, ultimately resulting in my getting a low score on the DAT (gotta blame someone). 😀

But you had a good DAT Score....

So has anyone found out for sure if the foldable ruler is a no-go? Because that is a fabulous idea if it is legal!

I don't know who to call i spent a lot of time trying to call my test center but no one picks up. Hopefully someone on the forum knows.

does anyone here have topscore. I ordered it and I can't seem to get a hold of them. Do you guys know if the free shipping is usps and will it fit into an apartment mailbox. I dont' want to go pick it up somewhere because I don't have a car here at school. Does the mailman want us to sign something?

Thanks

I don't understand it either. I asked the same question a while ago and someone said ajy might have applied late to "wrong schools"

Yea, I actually did apply to some schools I should not have applied to last year. I guess after being on this forum for almost a year, I have the impression that applicants like myself with low GPA's need stellarly high DAT scores. Also, I got a waitlist at Marquette for the 2005 matriculating cycle, and when I called back after I got my reject letter, the person on the phone informed me that students with science GPA's lower than 3.0 will not even be considered. WTF?!?!?! 😡 🙁 :scared:

I think the standard shipping is via FEDEX ground, which takes anywhere from 5-10 business days. Didn't they email you a delivery confirmation internet link? If its a residential house, they will most likely leave it by the door or some secure location. But it should fit into a mailbox.
