Hello guys,

I have a question about speeding tickets. I have 12 speeding tickets from the time I was 18-27(present). Most of these were in my youth time due to the very strict cops giving me tickets going 3 miles an hour over speedlimit. Do these go on the AMCAS somewhere?

Only if any of them counted as misdemeanors.

Nope guess not they are just regular speeding tickets sounds good thanks!

Just a heads up, university of Chicago has a place on their secondary that asks about any violation including speeding tickets, if you're applying there.. I doubt it would matter greatly

Speeding tickets did actually come up on my background check when I matriculated, but nobody asked me about them or anything. The only reason I knew they showed up is because the background check company asked me to call verifying the "convictions" that I had on my record. When I called, some employee read out the list (just like this, I **** you not): so it says here in 2006 you were charged with speeding and pled guilty... is that true? I was like: "uhh, I paid the ticket... so yes?"

Generally as another poster said, as long as you don't have any misdemeanors or higher it won't matter.

Speeding tickets in some states are class 4 misdemeanors, so make sure this doesn't apply to you. AMCAS will only as for felonly and misdemeanor but schools can (and some will) ask about traffic violations on the secondary.

Many states count speeding tickets as misdemeanors and I think they will show up on the certiphi background check as they look for convictions. You can run a background check on yourself and see if they show up. Also try and get as many as you can expunged as 12 speeding tickets may make adcom members look at your application in a less favorable light.

Cincinnati asks you to disclose any traffic violations as well.
