Get involved early, while improving your applications (professional memberships are a plus)!

All are open to premeds:

American Medical Student Association (AMSA):

www.amsa.org/member

Medical Care Section, American Public Health Assn (APHA):

http://www.apha.org/membership/student_membership.htm

National Medical Association (SNMA):

Good luck to everyone! You'll be one of us in less than a year!

Interesting. I just signed up for AMSA and can't really find a way to verify that all my information's correct. I guess I'll know when I get my billing statement for my credit card.

Is there a way to check your profile online?

What is the actual benefit of amsa? And Is it worth spending $30 just to become a member?

I got a pretty sweet credit card deal through them, actually. 5.9% fixed APR with no prior credit

Other than that, most of the benefits at my school are through the student organization rather than the national organization. I'm not into a lot of their lobbying.

Remember, you don't have to take the credit card.

You can see and update your profile online. They'll send you more information shortly. If you want, you can get all of the info sooner by following the appropriate links on the website.

oh reallly.... no one wants to give me one of those.. even though i have decent credit.. they say my accounts havent been opened for long enough.. i guess 2 yrs of paying all my bills on time isnt long enough for a friggin credit card.. stupid student loans  if you join do you automatically get accepted for the card?

So what would be the benifit of pre-meds joining these organizations? Why would joining any of these have any effect of making an application better?

they wont. join if you have something to give or gain.
