improvement with destroyer

in early october kaplan came to my school offering their diagnostic. i took it. 17 bio and 16 chem 16 orgo. i decided not to look at the answer key and retake after i made it through destroyer a couple times. i was feeling good about my studies, because i was consistently answering 80-85% of all questions in destroyer. I retook the diagnostic and what do you know i got 19's on both chems and 16 on bio.?. That worried me a bit, but looking back at the questions it seemed to me that the bio questions they asked were really about animal behavior and taxa, etc. the stuff that i had neglected b/c its boring. anyway where do i go now with studying. I just bought the odyssey to help my organic because i dont feel as comfortable, i feel like i make alot of educated guesses. what can i do to get those extra 2-3 questions right so i can get above a 20. how can i use odyssey most effectively? congrats on the improvement. I have to say that I can't answer your question about odyssey because I haven't seen it - but I am very curious to know how you managed your work with destroyer?

knowing that a lot of people have been talking up destroyer on here, i got myself a copy. i get frustrated every time i open it up because it always manages to humble me pretty quickly. I end up trying a problem and wanting to look at answers right away (ochem/gen chem). with so many wrong answers, it gets overwhelming to try to look up, practice, and learn about each one.

any good strategies/tips for using the destroyer?

I was humbled everyday, so much that i put if off for about the first 6 months i had it. I just decided not to study so i didnt feel like a *****. then another application cycle flew by and i had not taken the dat. I was mad at myself and i decided the only way to get it is to do it. So that is what i did. the problems i missed i did over and over and over. each time i do a problem i put and x or a check, that way there is some record of how i did the last time. I got a small notebook and put every genchem problem i missed or not clear on. I tried not to just dwell on the particular question in the book because after you have seen it, you kinda know the answer. so that is why i wrote it down in a seperate notebook and studied from there. i would add my own explanations for answer in the problem. I am about to do that with organic chem now. You will find when you do those calculations that the conceptual questions start to make since because you see how it works in your head. I also made a word document over every equation that i could pull from the problems. periodically i will print it and define all the variable and write i what situation i would use this equation. hope this helps.
